One of the simplest and most beautiful ways to decorate is to use your own photos. Decorating in the fall is so fun since nature provides such warm beautiful colors to photograph.
Today I updated some of the decor in my guest bathroom for less than 6 dollars!
All you need is a camera, some pretty fall leaves, and a place to hang pictures.
First I gathered some colorful leaves and arranged them on a table outside. I try to take as many pictures as I can outside since the lighting is so good.
I took some close up pictures of the leaves in different arrangements. I tried to focus on the leaves that were the most colorful.
Next I uploaded them to my local drug store and had them printed out in sizes to fit the frames I already had. My drug store usually runs sales on photo printing pretty often so I was able to use a 40% off coupon.
Thanks to the coupon, the total cost for this project was $5.39!
Here’s the results!
I love the warmth and personality these photos add to the bathroom.
You can take pictures for every season and update them as the year goes on. Here’s what I display for Spring and Fall:
I hope this inspires you to take pictures of what you think is beautiful about fall and display the results proudly in your own home!

I love this idea! The changing leaves are one of my favorite things about fall, and I love how this instantly makes your room look warm and fall-like! Also, thanks for linking up to our first link party (Your Turn To Shine)!! Hope you’re having a great week!!
Aren’t fall colors the best? I love taking advantage of the fall beauty whenever I can!
This is such a pretty idea. There is so much detail to your photos…..and I love how it can be changed out for the season!
Thank you Jamie! I love your decorating style so I take that as a compliment coming from you!
I love this idea! I really want to do this. We recently got a nice camera so we actually could do some nice shots!
You’ll have so much fun with the new camera! I love taking nature photos and making wall decor out of them. Have fun Theresa!
What a great idea. Simple but really changes the feel of a room! Thanks for sharing! I’d love for you to come join our Halloween Party!!!
It really did change the room giving it a more warm tone! I’ll have to check out your party soon! Thanks for stopping by!
Your leaf photos are just stunning! I absolutely love them!
Thank you so much! I love them too. Thanks for visiting.
These are lovely! So simple, but colorful and beautiful. I have been reading up on ways to preserve leaves, but they all sound so involved and more work than it’s worth…but taking photos is a great alternative! I will have to try it!
I agree! I would much rather take photos of leaves than preserving them! I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did.
How beautiful! An easy and affordable way to change the decor for the seasons. Great pics 😉
The affordability of this project is one of the things I like best!
I’m here from Whimsy Wednesday, and a new follower of your blog! I love this idea!! So simple and frugal. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for stopping by and following along! Heading over to check out your blog!

I love your fall picture idea! I just need to get pictures up. I have some great art niches that would do great with this kind of decor, but after moving I think I better get some family photos up first. Great idea and so frugal! -Tabitha
There’s so much to do after moving. I’d be putting up the family photos first as well! I hope you have fun making your new house a home!
Wish I Had a camera so I could go out taking pics of leaves. No leaves falling here (western CO) yet but hopefully soon. Could go up to mountains where it will be color Sunday soon but still no camera. I’d love to hang gorgeous photos of leaves like your’s any where in our home. Gorgeous leaf photos.
Happy weekend
Maybe you can borrow a camera from a friend–I bet the colors up in the mountains would be beautiful!
Carrie,
Those pictures really do create a warm and inviting space. What a creative way to update decor inexpensively throughout the seasons!
