One day last week we caught my daughter trying to put a movie into the DVD player. Bless her heart; she was trying but not successful.
We heard a lot of crunching going on. It’s that sound that makes every parent’s stomach turn–the something’s-going-to-break sound.
I think we both let out a big sigh before trying to give our daughter a lesson on why we should be gentle with things like the DVD player.
Fast forward to the next day. Forgetting what happened the day before, I put in a video for my kiddos to watch while I planned on getting some stuff done.
My daughter shouts out “The movie has sparkles on it!” and then laughs hysterically.
I walked in and this is what I saw:
This is what the movie should look like:
It’s official. The DVD player is broken. And my daughter could care less.
PHEW!
I’m glad she took that so well! Usually when a DVD starts skipping, my daughter freaks out {as if the world is ending}
Now, seeing one of her favorite shows in “sparkly mode” is a cool new option in her little mind.
Considering that the kids are the ones who watch DVDs the most in our living room, I think we’re going to keep the broken DVD player for ahwile. If the hubby and I want to watch a movie, we’ll have to go down to the basement. We have a projector in the basement so we won’t be hurting.
Stay tuned to my blog this summer; I’ll be sharing about how we made a low-cost movie room in our basement with an almost 100 inch screen!
If you can correctly guess what movie this scene is from, leave a comment below and I’ll give you some imaginary bonus points!
