Easy Summer Snack Ideas

I’m really looking forward to spending a lot of quality time with my children this summer.
Spending more time with my kids is a priority this summer! #SummerGoodies #shop

Our daily life is full of laughs, challenges, snuggles, and new accomplishments.  They will not be this age for long.  I want to take time this summer to slow down and just enjoy being with them.

Having an outdoor picnic is one way I like to spend quality time with my kids.  I love to make it an activity filled with fun things to do.

This activity is simple.  Choose some great snacks, pick a location outside, choose some fun things to do and you’re set!

Easy Summer Snack Activity
The first step is to make a snack.  Finding creative, healthy, and fun snacks is often a hard task.  Hot Pockets and Edy’s Outshine Fruit and Veggie Bars make snack time easy so I can spend less time in the kitchen and more time with my kids.

Hot Pockets make a great snack because they’re filled with protein from real meat and cheese.  They’re filling and fun for my kids to eat.  Feeding my kids filling snacks ensures I won’t hear the “I’m hungry” whine every five minutes!

Edy’s Outshine Fruit and Veggie Bars are the perfect snack for a hot summer day.  They far surpassed my expectations because they taste so good you’d never know they have fruit and veggie nutrition in them!

I found both of these snacks at my local Walmart during my normal weekly grocery shopping trip.  It can’t get easier than that!

Location
Next pick  a location.  We have a simply wonderful part of our yard that is PERFECT for summer activities.  There’s a big tree that provides tons of shade and the picket fence makes for some great photo opportunities!

Activities
Have fun!  This activity doesn’t require gathering special supplies.  Just grab a couple games, books to read, toys to play with, or coloring books and spend time doing the things your kids like to do.  Think like your child and choose things that they would like to do.

Our Easy Summer Snack and Activity
While my son napped, my daughter and I took a soft blanket outside to have our summertime snack.  We chose to bring a couple games and have some mommy-daughter time.

I can’t believe she will be going to Kindergarten next year!  I need to enjoy the time I have with her now!
Spending time with little ones is fun
We played bingo in the breezy shade.  For our first snack, we tried Edy’s Oushine Fruit and Veggie Bars.  My daughter chose the Blueberry Medley and I chose the Tangerine Carrot.

I know….thinking of carrots as a snack usually isn’t popular.  Especially with my picky taste.

But to my surprise, it was really good!
Like I-want-another-one-right-now kind of good.

Thankfully they only have 40 calories each!  Even if I give in to the temptation to have seconds, I’ll still be under 100 calories.  The strawberry rhubarb and blueberry medley only have 35 calories each!  Each flavor contains real fruit and veggie juice so I know we’re all getting nutrition along with a fun snack.

We finished our bingo game and my daughter won (of course!) .  Then right after the game was over my son woke up to join the fun.

Snack time?  Yes please!

He tried the Tangerine Orange Fruit and Veggie Bar and loved it.   I think he would have eaten 3 more if I let him.

Later on we were ready to try another easy summer snack.

I love using Hot Pockets as a quick and easy snack for the three of us.  One Hot Pocket provides the perfect amount for a snack.  I get half and the kids split the other half.
Hot Pockets are the perfect summer snack idea--just the right amount for you and the kids! #SummerGoodies #shop
Of course our snack had to be on a Princess plate!  These two “picky eaters” didn’t need any convincing to try these!

They instantly asked for seconds!

This activity was so easy we’ll be doing it again and again over the summer.  In fact, a couple days later we played outside in the pool and brought out some of our new snack ideas to share with some friends!

Can someone please make time stop?  I LOVE this age!  Part of me wishes my children would just stay this age forever.  I’ll just have to savor these moments while I can!

We’re big fans of Outshine bars. They are one of the few brands of frozen pops I can find that are actually made from fruit.
We’re looking forward to a vacation to a drier climate soon. The heat and humidity of Louisiana is just too unbearable during the summer months. I took my boys to get a snowcone this afternoon and it was miserably hot and humid.
