Finding Nemo Birthday Party

May 15, 2013 by Carrie

Nemo Photobooth and Party

I can’t believe it.  My daughter is turning four.

This year she chose to have a Finding Nemo birthday party.  We ended up having a fun, low-key party at our house and she had a blast.

I wanted to do the normal kid birthday stuff; get Nemo table cloths, napkins, plates, party favors, etc.  But I also wanted to do something a little more creative and fun.

I searched Pinterest for some fun party ideas and got really inspired by what I found.  {See the inspiration on my Pinterest Party Ideas Board}

I had so much fun putting the party together & today I’ll show you how to do it!

Photo Booth

Since I’m a wanna-be photographer the thought of a photo booth at the party was one thing I was really excited about.

I bought a plain blue plastic tablecloth and a Nemo tablecloth.  I cut out the characters and taped them on the blue table cloth to make it look like a scene from the movie.  I mounted it in our kitchen in between my hutch and the fridge using an adjustable shower curtain rod.

The morning of the party I send my hubby to the party store to get a couple clear balloons filled with helium.  Then I put them in front of the blue tablecloth which made them look like bubbles.

Photo Booth Props

I ended up making my own photo booth props.  Thank goodness it was pretty easy.  I bought some wooden dowels and craft glue and used some colored construction paper I already had.  I looked at some templates on Pinterest and cut out funny shapes by hand and then glued them to the sticks.

The Food

My mother-in-law {who by the way is AMAZING} went to a local bakery and had them print off an edible Nemo picture to put on top of the cake.  Cute, right?

She also brought some delicious little cupcakes with Nemo temporary tattoos {which the kids LOVED}

Goldfish are a MUST at a Nemo party!

Party Favors

I like to give out activity type toys in party favors.  This year I packed the party favor bags with some play dough, a cute Nemo cup, Nemo bubbles and of course, some Goldfish!

On The Night Before, Order Your Dinner {Don’t Make It}

One of the best ideas I had for the party was this: get take-out for dinner the night before.  The party was at my house so needless to say I had a lot of cleaning to do.  Since I didn’t have to make dinner my kitchen was already clean and saved me a lot of rushing around the day of the party.

I’d Love To Hear From You!

  • What was the theme at the most recent party you’ve been to?
  • What do you think makes a party fun for guests?

    I absolutely love this! I had a party for our little guy and we had a photo booth but had a hard time coming up with a background that wasn’t crazy expensive or hard to build. This is such an awesome way to use inexpensive material to make something look so professional! Your kiddos are so cute!
