Embellished Leaf Garland

October 29, 2014 by Carrie

Hello Carrie This Home readers! My name is Amy and I’m so excited to be guest posting for Carrie today. I create and write for Delineate Your Dwelling, a creative DIY blog. With fall in full force, I’ve been having such fun creating simple and festive decor items for my home. Today I am sharing my Embellished Leaf Garland with you.

The supplies for this project are so simple and could even be done with leaves from your own backyard! I live in NM and all our leaves are still green, so I had to use faux leaves.

Supplies:
Faux Leaves
Washi Tape
Black Paint Pen
String

Leaf Garland supplies

The first step for this project is to “embellish” your leaves. Using a black paint pen, I traced the veins of the leaves and then added additional lines until each leaf was completely covered.

Then, I pulled out all my fun fall colored washi tape and created mini flags to add to the garland.

Next, I laid out my string, the leaves and the washi tape flags. Using hot.glue I applied a small dot to the string and secured everything down.

The finished product was this bright and colorful Embellished Leaf Garland.

I love this! I saw your craft over at Saturday Sharefest at the SITS Girls and had to check it out. Our leaves are the perfect colors for this right now.

Isn’t it great when you get to use nature in craft projects? The fall leaves are so pretty and they’re free!

Adding the veins really gives the leaves more life. Amy had a great idea with that!

I love this. My mother in law just recently picked up a bunch of leaves up north. We dried them and now we know what we can do with them.

The leaves up North are so beautiful and colorful! They’d be perfect for this craft!
