Making fun family memories is something I’m putting high on my priority list these days.
I want my children to remember their childhood as a fun time.
When my kids are all grown up, I hope they have a lot of fun memories to look back on. As a busy mom, there’s always a to-do list that’s a million miles long. I struggle with putting that list aside and just enjoying my family. I don’t want to look back on these days and wish I would have spent more time with them.
I’ve pinned tons of ideas of fun things we can do together to make those fun family memories. One idea I love is playing games together as a family after dinner.
But let’s face it–a lot of those good ideas don’t end up happening. Why?
Because I fail to make them happen!
If we aren’t intentional about making room in our schedule and putting effort towards making fun family memories, they simply won’t happen.
Life is too short to miss the daily blessings of family.
Make It Happen: Family Game Night
I’m taking some steps to be intentional to make family game night happen with my family. You can do it too! Here’s a couple ideas that might help:
- Learn how to say no so you can leave openings in your schedule to spend time with your family.
- Schedule it in! {I literally make an appointment on my calendar to make sure it happens}
- Invest in some games your family enjoys playing.
- Make a super easy dinner so you spend more time with your loved ones {and less time in the kitchen}
TONY’S® Pizza makes it easy to serve a delicious meal my family loves while saving me time. Thanks to Tony’s we can have an authentic pizzeria taste while enjoying more time together for family game night!
Last week I picked up a couple pizzas with our favorite toppings at Walmart. Then we had Tony’s Sausage & Pepperoni Pizza for dinner outside on the deck. The temperature was perfect, the scenery was beautiful and dinner was a breeze to make!
Tony’s Pizza even satisfied my son (AKA Mr. Picky eater).
Our family of four is full of big appetites. My hubby once ate a whole deep dish pizza by himself as a challenge! Now that Tony’s pizzas are 30% larger, they satisfy the hunger of our big-appetite family.
The pizza couldn’t have been easier to make and since they have sauce made with Italian style-herbs and it’s made with real cheese, the taste was simply delish!
After dinner, we had a blast playing some of our favorite games together.
It was a great night!

I love family game night, because your right they just grow up so fast. We don’t always get a lot of time, but just 15 minutes for a game of Chinese checkers and I feel like we have had some time to connect and be a family.

Isn’t it amazing how just a short game can really help you connect? I’m hoping to have a lot of these game nights this summer!

I love how you say you have to learn to say no. So true. I find you really need to program some family time!

Learning to say no to good things is hard but it leaves time for what really matters!

You are so wise, Carrie! They grow up when you blink your eye. I know that sounds cliche, and I always groaned inwardly when I had little ones flocked around me and heard it over and over – but it is so very true.
The little years are so wonderful! I know you are enjoying them. Thank you for sharing! It brings back sweet memories to see little faces smiling happily with their mommy and daddy.

I have so many moments of groaning as there’s always someone little at my feet. I know I will miss these days so I’m trying to change that thought around quickly when it happens. I’m happy to hear this brought back fond memories for you, Karen!

Once your kids are grown and gone the same thing happens with your grandkids – you have to schedule time with them or a week will go by and you realize you’ve not seen them or taken time to be with them. It too struggle with “fitting it all in” and making time for what really matters – time with family.
Carrie says
That’s a great point, Val! Grandparents are such an important part of raising up children. I’ll have to keep up these intentional habits for my grandkids, too!

I love the idea of playing the game outside! I was thinking about adding a game night once a week (or even every other week) to our schedule this summer. An easy dinner sounds good, too.
