One of my most popular recipes here is my Orange Creamsicle Cookies. There’s something special about the flavor combination of vanilla & orange. It reminds me of those push up ice cream treats I had when I was a kid. If you’ve never had these cookies, click over to that post and try them. They’re wonderful!
Speaking of flavor combinations, another good one is orange & chocolate. Whoever thought of that flavor combination is a straight up genius!
I recently decided to do a twist on my Orange Creamsicle Cookies recipe for Halloween this year. Instead of using white chocolate chips, I swapped them out for milk chocolate chips.
Orange and chocolate is always a good mix in my book, so why not try it?
Through that idea, Orange and Chocolate Halloween Cookies were born.
This is a super easy recipe & it’s a great Halloween activity to do with kids since there’s minimal steps and ingredients. My daughter just happened to be wearing her pumpkin pajamas the morning we made these! I love it when those convenient coincidences happen!
So get on your costume, get the ingredients and have fun making Orange and Chocolate Halloween Cookies!
- 1 box of orange cake mix {important note: you will not follow the directions on the box}
- 1 tub of Cool Whip
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (if desired to keep cookies from sticking together)
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Blend the cake mix, tub of cool whip, and egg together using a mixer with a dough hook if you have one. There isn't a lot of moisture in the dough so if you're stirring by hand let me warn you it will be a CRAZY hard workout for your arms!
- Next, fold in the chocolate chips using a big strong spoon.
- Spoon heaping teaspoon fulls of dough onto a greased or parchment paper lined cookie sheet. I've found that using a small melon baller works great at spooning out cookie dough and helps keep the cookies all the same size.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
- After the cookies are cool I dip both sides in powdered sugar so they won't stick to each other.
