Don’t Forget To Bring The Camera

July 24, 2013 by Carrie

While on vacation the hubby and I got to escape went out for a date while my in-laws put the kids to bed.  Before leaving, I remember having a debate in my mind.

Should I bring the camera?

Bringing the camera involves dedicating a LOT of room in my purse.  So I usually only take it when there’s high potential for a Kodak moment.

I went ahead and put the camera in my purse thinking I wouldn’t use it.

The hubby and I went out on a little date night and ended up driving through this beautiful covered bridge.  This is so pretty–how could we not take a picture of it?

Then the hubby offered to take some pictures of me.

I’m a busy stay-at-home mom.  Most days my makeup is half worn off, my hair is greasy since I didn’t have time to wash it, and I’m wearing workout shorts & an old Tshirt with holes in it.

That day I had a shower, my hair wasn’t super greasy & I had makeup on so why not?

The next thing I knew I was in the middle of a photo shoot!  The lighting was just right, the scenery was beautiful and the pictures turned out great.  I’m SO glad we brought the camera!

Here’s The Funny Part

Then before my head got too big thinking I was some supermodel, the hubby asks “what’s that on your shirt?”

Of course.  Go figure.  The one day I get some nice pictures taken I have some unknown substance on my shirt.  Probably kids toothpaste, mushed up Goldfish or who-knows-what.   All I know is it’s right at the head level of my four year old, so I’m blaming her.

Part of being a mom is always having unknown spots on your shirt at all times!

Oh yea.  I also had baby drool on my shoulder.

Oh the joys of motherhood.

I have to admit….I like the shirt-stained goofy pictures just as much as the “good” ones.  I’ve learned over the years that life is more fun when you’re laughing.

So the point of this story is…if you’re debating about bringing the camera, go ahead and do it.  You never know what moments you might capture.

I love your pictures! And what a beautiful background. I’ve learned the hard way, never forget your camera, also remember to have your batteries charged.

Yes–having charged batteries is so important! I keep an extra battery charged up so I don’t run into that situation! Thanks so much for your sweet comments!

Thanks Beth! We have a Canon T1i and we LOVE it! We bought it refurbished so it wasn’t too expensive. We’ve gotten lots of great pictures from it!

Carrie, I love this post! Last week when I was looking at all the blogs who do “What I wore Wednesday”, I thought of posting a picture of me in my workout clothes with my hair greased back in a ponytail, no makeup. That’s how I am most days. By the way, these pictures are great! You look so beautiful and happy!

Thank you Katie! I have the same reaction to What I Wore Wednesday posts, too! Someday I’m going to do a “What I REALLY Wore Wednesday” post for women like us!
