Liebster Award

March 12, 2013 by Carrie

Carrie This Home has been nominated for the Liebster Award!

As a new blogger, any comment, blog activity, or recognition will make my day.  So when Tasya from My House and Home nominated me I was completely thrilled!

What is the Liebster Award?

The Liebster award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 or so followers.  Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

So it’s not really an actual award.  No trophy, no ribbon, no ceremony.  It’s more of a compliment that someone out there likes your blog and wants to see it grow.  When someone is nominated, they can accept the award, answer the questions, and pass along the Liebster to other blogs.

Here are the rules for receiving this award:

1. Each person must post 10 random things about themselves.

2. Answer the questions that the nominator set for you plus create 10 questions for the people you’ve tagged to answer.

3. Choose 5 blogs to receive the award and link them in your post.

4. Go to their page and tell them.

10 Random things about Carrie:

1. Sometimes I wish I was one of those “cool” people who liked coffee black

2. My nickname in high school was phlegm.  No joke!

3. My first car was a Ford Taurus wagon.  Just like this one:

4. I have initials after my name (CPC Certified Professional Medical Coder) that I’m not currently using as a stay-at-home mom.  I’m totally fine with that.

5. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is one of my favorite movies.  I grew up near Chicago and love seeing the shots of the city.

6. When I was 6 weeks pregnant I was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance after passing out.   It ended up being a hypoglycemic event.  I learned the hard way that I can’t go hungry while pregnant!

7. I hate conflict and confrontations.  I’m a people-pleaser.

8. I’ve dealt with life and death within 3 days of each other.   I lost my father to cancer and then three days later my daughter was born a month premature.  I wouldn’t have made it through that time without the grace of God!

9.  I know people by the type of car they drive.  I may forget your name, but I’ll remember the car you drive!

10. One thing I’m OCD about: I take a long time to put on Chap Stick.  I have to ensure that every part of my lips is covered.  Otherwise it drives me crazy.

Here are the questions I was asked to answer:

1. What did you have for dinner last night?  Crockpot turkey breast with potatoes.

2. Do you believe in soulmates?  Yes.  I believe God made the hubby and I for each other.  We balance each other out quite well.

3. Flinstones or Jetsons?  Good question.  Both shows bring back fun childhood memories.  I’d say it’s a tie.

4. If you could live anywhere in the world and money was no object where would you live and why? I’d get a timeshare so I could travel and see all the good stuff!  On the list would be the U.K, Hawaii and Ireland among others.

5. Who was your celebrity teen crush?  Joey McIntyre from New Kids On The Block.  Now I feel old 😉

6. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?  Cadberry mini eggs–they’re crazy addictive.

7. Stranded on a beach, what 3 things (not people) do you bring along?  Bible, pictures, and sunblock!

8. Silver or gold?  Used to be gold.  Now I like silver better.

9. Do you believe in miracles?  Yes.  I have many stories from my life and those around me which cannot be explained except for God showing up and doing amazing things.

10. What would you rather not be caught doing – which you do, of course?  Speeding.

Now for my nominees!

1) Nourishing Passions

2) Once Upon A Lemonade Stand

3) The Incredible K

4) Raspberry Macaron

5) Eliorah

Now here are the questions my nominees should answer:

1. If you have an hour of free time to do whatever you want, what would you do?

2. Where are you from?

3. When you were a child, what dream job did you have?

4. Do you call carbonated drinks pop or soda?

5. When did you start your blog?

6. What’s your TV guilty pleasure?

7. When you’re having a bad day, what do you do to relax?

8. What is your favorite book?

9. What’s your biggest fear?

10. Share a hidden talent you have that most people don’t know about.

Now go have some fun and make sure to link back so I can take part in the fun!!
