Quick Wall Makeover

February 4, 2013 by Carrie

The Hubby and I recently did a quick low-cost makeover to one of the walls in our kitchen.  This wall was in DESPERATE  need of a makeover for several reasons:

kitchen wall makevoer

1) Most of the pictures were getting really dated.  I think we quickly put these pictures up when we first moved in to our house (over 5 years ago) and haven’t touched it since.  Not that old pictures are bad, but if all of them are old (like they are here) then there’s a problem.  We’ve moved and had two children since all these pictures were taken!

2) The frames and pictures were too small.  The picture on the bottom left is my all time favorite picture of the hubby and me.  My uncle took the photo at our wedding.  It’s a wonderful picture that wasn’t getting the attention it deserved because it was too small.

3) Everything is crooked.   The crookedness was really getting on the Hubby’s nerves which gave him motivation to get the project started!

Quick and Inexpensive Wall Makeover

We bought a four-pack of frames from Bed Bath and Beyond with a gift certificate.  We picked out some of our favorite recent pictures and had them printed out in the 8×10 format for four dollars each.  I borrowed a clock from elsewhere in the house to give it a more contemporary look.

The Result

This wall reflects the fact that there’s four of us in the house now.  The vibrant photos and colors bring life back to this wall.  Now that photography is becoming a bigger hobby for both the hubby and me, we have no excuse for letting our pictures exist only in the computer.  They need to be displayed!

So if you come to visit me in my home a couple years from now and these same pictures are still displayed, please give me a swift kick in the butt.  Thank you!
