Tour Through Blogland

August 25, 2014 by Carrie

Happy Monday!  I hope you all are having a great start to your week!  Today I’m doing something a little different.  I’ve been nominated for the Tour Through Blogland!  I’m going to share a couple things about myself and introduce you to some other great blogs!

I was nominated by the lovely Katie from The Casual Craftlete.  She is a sweet girl who has an amazing talent for creating sweet treats and cute crafts.  She’s also shared a lot of her experiences with running.

Katie and I have known each other for years, and our friendship has grown closer since we both started blogging.  It’s so fun to have a friend like Katie to share blogging ideas, dilemmas and dreams with!

For this tour, I will be answering four questions:

What am I working on?

Lately I’ve been working on changing the looks here at Carrie This Home.  You may have noticed my blog looks a little different.  A little easier to read, less congested, and a bigger space to share photos.  I hope it’s a better experience for all my readers.

I’m also gearing up to show off our budget deck makeover.  Our deck has seen better days.  It was full of splinters, very dirty, and not pretty.  The hubby and I found a great way to give an old splintered deck new life!  I can’t wait to share the secret with you but until then I’ll give you a little preview:

Deck Makeover Preview

I’m also working on a super easy tip for getting rid of greasy hair in less than 10 minutes.  And it doesn’t involve any baby powder.  It’s so easy I was surprised I hadn’t discovered it years ago!

Since I love sweets, I’ll also be sharing  a crazy easy recipe for fudge that costs less than $5!

How does my work differ from others of the same genre?

This is a good question.  My work is a little different than other bloggers.  I’m not really a food blogger.  I’m not really a DIY blogger.  I’m not a parenting blogger.  I’m not a faith blogger either.  I’m somewhere in between all of these things.

I knew when I started this blog, I wanted lots of room to share what I was passionate about at the moment.  Being able to blog about lots of different things keeps my content fresh.

Some of my readers will stumble upon my blog for my Cookie Dough For One recipe, but if they stick around for awhile, they may read a story that shares some of the amazing things God has done in my life.   That is one of the ultimate goals of Carrie This Home:
Go home to your friends, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you” Mark 5:19

Why do I write/create what I do?

I love finding easy shortcuts that make my life a little simpler.  Sharing those great ideas is even more fun!  Knowing that I can share an little tip to make someone’s life a little easier really makes my day.  Having a creative outlet is so life-giving for me.

How does my writing/creating process work?

My creative process starts out with good intentions.  But the process of getting it all done is really choppy and disorganized.  Most of my posts start as little ideas that pop in my head that are quickly written down as post drafts.  Then when I get time and  motivation to make the recipe or project, I then blog about it afterwards.

My blogging time usually consists of short increments, trying to get as much done as I can in a short amount of time.

Now for my nominations!

Before I begin with the nominations, I have to say that the fact that I nominated two other women with the same first name as me is completely coincidental!

First is Keri from Living In This Season.  We both had children that recently started Kindergarten, so we’ve had a lot to share with each other!

Here’s some info on Keri:

My name is Keri and I share over at Living In This Season. I have been married for 9 years and have 3 little ones. I love lots of coffee, chocolate, date nights, and time with friends and family. My goal at Living In This Season is to inspire others to live fully in whatever season you may be in. Life is full of ups and downs but hopefully we can be encouraged to focus on the here and now, accept, and move forward. I share Honest Moments, Thursday Tots, and lots of DIY and organizational ideas and Pinterest inspired fun!

My next nomination is the adorably sweet Carrie from Curly Crafty Mom.  She is one of those people I could see myself getting coffee with and chatting for hours….that is if we lived in the same town!

Now let’s hear from Carrie:
My name is Carrie and I am the owner of Curly Crafty Mom. My blog displays the crafts and DIY projects I am working on around the home and I touch a little on fashion, too… hence, Curls and Crafts Collide. I am in my 30’s, Christian, a blessed newly sahm mother of an 8 year old and 5 year old, married to my first kiss and soulmate, 5 time half marathon finisher and working on my sixth, cherry limeade addict, pinot noir lover, traveler, dreamer and believer. I could eat cheese, crackers and fruit for dinner every night and be happy! I love reading, gardening (except when I need to prune the roses!), latest fashion trends, Disney and of course decorating and crafting!
In addition to DIY and crafts, I also feature a once a month freezer meal recipe. Every Thursday on the blog I host a link up party called ‘What Wives Wear’ where I also share a new outfit. Lastly, I have a monthly link up party called 5 Little Confessions. I would love for you to stop by for a visit!

I hope you all had a great time on the tour!

Thanks so much for nominating me, Carrie! And, I can’t wait to see your tips on how to get rid of greasy hair so easily. I am a daily washer and I’ve been wanting to try to get away with washing every other day. Hope you have a blessed Monday!
