Mother’s Day is one of those times when people struggle to figure out what to get for Mom. What do you give someone that seemingly has everything? Often times the most treasured gifts are the ones that have meaning. Last year for Mother’s Day the kids and I made a photo flower bouquet for all the grandmas and mothers on both sides of our family. Everyone LOVED them!
These are easy to make and you can even have the kids help!

Photo flower bouquet materials:
- foam paint brush
- dowel rods for the flower stems
- green paint for the flower stems
- tin can, rinsed and washed
- spray paint in your choice of color (I used this gold color and LOVED the results!)
- cute photos of your family
- pretty scrapbook paper for the flower petals
- heavy duty clear tape like this
- foam inserts like these
- tape runner (makes it really quick & easy)
- one sheet of tissue paper
Photo flower bouquet step-by-step directions:
- Using a foam paint brush, paint the wooden dowel rods in a green color and set them aside to dry. Hint: setting them on some parchment paper will help them dry & they won’t stick to the surface!
- Using your choice of spray paint color, spray paint the can evenly on all sides and set aside to dry.
- Meanwhile, trim your first photo in a circular or oval shape and use the tape runner to attach the photo to a scrapbook page square.
- Cut the scrapbook paper surrounding the photo into a flower petal shape (like this picture)
- After the dowel rods are dry, attach the photo scrapbook paper using some heavy duty tape (like this clear tape)
- Once the can is dry, insert the dry foam inside the can.
- Take one sheet of tissue paper and use the spray paint to paint the tissue.
- Next, position the dry tissue paper on top of the foam so it looks nice and insert the dowel rod through the tissue paper into the dry foam, creating a standing flower (like in this picture)
Repeat the flower making process until you have 3 or 4 photo blooms per bouquet.
