I’ve been getting really in to frames and wall art lately. {Can you tell?}
I almost threw these frames out. The style is a country chic–I used to be into that style years ago but now I’m moving on. I’m wanting a more modern look for our master bedroom.
I took a look at the frames and realized the picture could be taken out and replaced. The frames could also be painted! So on I went to the garage and low and behold there was some leftover white spray paint.
Score!
So the {super easy} project began!
How To Repurpose A Frame
Take a look at the back of the frame. If the back can be taken off easily and a new picture can be put in you’ve got a winner! Look for frames at your local Goodwill, yard sales and even your own home.
I took the picture and Plexiglas fronts out of each frame. I sanded each frame slightly to help the paint stick.
I spray painted each frame with several coats of flat white spray paint. When spray painting, make sure you hold the can about 8-10 inches away from the frame and spray in even strokes so the paint goes on evenly and doesn’t run. After just a few coats the dark navy frames were now white. Honestly, I was surprised it only took 3 coats.
Next I made this artwork on PicMonkey.com, sized it to an 8 x10, cut it in half and placed each piece in a frame. (I wrote a couple tutorials on how to make artwork HERE & HERE)
I’m so thankful I repurposed these frames instead of throwing them away. This whole project only cost me $4.00 for printing out the photo to put in the frames. I love frugal projects with big results, don’t you?
