Lately I’ve been having a lot of fun with the PicMonkey.com website.  PicMonkey is a mostly free photo editing website that I’ve totally fallen in love with.  I love it because it’s easy to use and  I can be really creative with it.  I just recently figured out that I could use it to make some inexpensive DIY wall art!

I love to edit pictures for my blog on PicMonkey.  I also love to get on Pinterest and pin Bible verses that can be displayed in my home.  So I decided to put these two loves together and make wall art using one of my favorite verses and PicMonkey.  This is what I came up with:

I love this verse because it’s so simple yet so profound.  I can love others because He loves me at my best and worst.  Beautiful words like that deserve a special place in my home!

Now for the fun part–I’ll show you how to do it!

Go to PicMonkey.com

Click edit a photo and upload any picture.  You can use a picture as the background or cover it up.

If you want to cover up the photo with a solid color background follow these steps.  If not, skip down to Now Add Your Text!

Click on the overlays tab (circled in red in the picture), then click on Geometric. Click on the rectangle shape.  A black rectangle will appear over your picture and an overlay tool box will show up on the screen.  Grab a corner of the rectangle and stretch it until whole picture is covered.  Change the background to desired color using the overlay tool.

Now Add Your Text!

Click on the text tab (the P that is circled in the picture)

Choose text font.  This is the step that takes the longest for me.  There’s so many great fonts it’s hard to choose!  Then click the Add Text button.

A text tool box will appear which will allow you to change the color and add other effects to the text.

Type your text and watch it appear!  Have fun trying different colors and fonts.  Try to leave just a little room at the edges so when your art is printed off, nothing will get cut off.

Add overlays

This is where it really gets fun!  The overlays option lets you add “embellishments” to your photo or art.  There are tons of options to use from butterflies to mustaches to labels.  I use the labels option all the time for my blog.  You can change the size of the overlay by dragging one of the corners while it’s selected.  You can also change the color using the overlay tool box.

Remember to leave a little room at the edges so the overlay won’t get cut out at printing.

When you’re done with your wall art, click save and save your masterpiece!

I hope this post sparks up some creativity in you!  I’d love to see what you come up with!
