First Day Of School

First day of school

This has been a very big week at my house.  My daughter started pre-school and I’m SO excited!  I can’t believe my little girl is growing up.  It seems like yesterday she was a little baby.

There’s a lot of emotions that go with this life event for both the child and the parent.  Honestly I thought I’d be more sad but I’m not.  I’m SO excited for her.  And she’s excited too.  She’ll get to play with her new friends in her classroom everyday and I’ll get a little break.  This is good for both of us.

Photography is Therapy

The morning of her first day I noticed myself getting a little more nervous and sentimental.  So how did I deal with the emotions?  I took pictures!  Maybe photography can be my new therapy.

I took a lot of sweet close ups like this while thinking I won’t have her with me all day anymore.  Kind of bittersweet.

As I got ready for the big day the thought hit me: I guess I should wear something besides my pajamas if I’m going out in public everyday to take her to school!

Daddy came to help send her off!

Her first day couldn’t have gone any better.  She ran into the classroom and started playing with the toys right away.  It was like she wasn’t going to miss us at all.  She had fun meeting her new classmates, drew a snowman, and didn’t ask about me at all.  Her teachers are wonderful.  They both have been teaching pre-k for many years and absolutely love their jobs.  Knowing that our little girl is in great hands helped a lot.

The new transition didn’t phase my daughter at all.  I think the transition was harder on the hubby and me!  After we dropped her off, we walked out of the school and felt a little strange.  Like we were missing something…or someone.

How was it for you on the first day of school?  I’d love to hear about it!
